project 4: about me
How can you combine interesting images and sounds to make an interactive collage?
In this open-ended project activity, you will be experimenting with sprites, costumes, backdrops, looks, and sounds to create an interactive Scratch project -- a project that helps other people learn more about you and the ideas, activities, and people that you care about.

project 5: broadcasting
How do you coordinate interactions between sprites in animations?
In this activity, you'll explore two different strategies for synchronizing interactions between sprites -- timing and broadcasting -- by remixing a joke project.
Start by watching the video below, then look inside the Penguin Joke project. Observe how the author animated the conversation between Penguin and Nano using wait blocks. Remix the Penguin Joke project to (instead of using wait blocks) use the broadcast and when I receive blocks.
Watch the video below and then begin by clicking the above "Penguin Joke project" link!!! Once you've done that, click on the SEE INSIDE button, then REMIX and incorporate the broadcast block to tell the joke!! Have fun!

Project 6: backdrops
In this activity, you will create a project that experiments with backdrops, like a story with multiple scenes or a slideshow. Choose, paint, or upload backdrops into an existing or new Scratch project. Experiment with blocks that facilitate switching backdrops, which can be found under the Looks and Events categories (and are featured in this project). Try manipulating scripts in the Stage and in sprites to initiate backdrop changes in your project.
Create a project that switches the backdrop at least FOUR times!!!

project 7: gaming part i - puzzles
Interactivity is awesome -- it's what differentiates a Scratch project from a still image or a video, and is at the heart of all games.
Dive deeper with Scratch by tackling these nine "puzzles" that engage some of the more advanced concepts in Scratch related to interactivity. Each of these challenges has several possible solutions. Be sure to post each puzzle project to your website.
